Brightening Up a Home with a House Washing

It is hard to tell a customer that you can brighten up their home with a washing. How do you tell them your home can be brighter and look better when it does not have the green or black growth on it?

Just giving it a good cleaning can give it some wow factor back to the home. Unless they are watching you work they really do not know how dirty of dull their home was. As hard as it is to tell them that it is harder to get a photo of what we see when we clean. I was moving hoses today and had a look at the home and saw what I thought would make a good photo. It is not that cleaning the "green meanies" photo or the "big money shot" we all like to post. Just a regular house washing we all do and see each day. It is not the best but does show a brightening of the home adding curb appeal. I here people say all the time "my house is not dirty" just because it does not have green mold and mildew growing on it, does not mean it can not use a good washing. I don't know if I caught the entire idea in this photo but it does show a good impact.

Gutter Brightening Republic / Billings Missouri

Yes Spring is coming in and was able to to some gutter brightening. This is not the biggest of jobs but it helps set you back into the work force. These gutters man not appear too bad but they were some of the dirtiest I have come across in a long time. Taking pictures of dirt verse clean gutters is one of the hardest shots to get you can see it but the camera just does not relay the dirty factor. In any case here are some photos.

Gutter brightening Billings / Republic MO area. The photos really don't show how gray and completely covered with years of grime these gutters are. The house is located near a major high-way and a train track that hauls coal, the home sits in an open field so it attract all the airborne dirt.

Wash'n Wednesday in Republic Missouri: Are you ready for some football?

Wash'n Wednesday is one of my regular features here on the blog. This entry finds us in Republic Missouri.

You know the field of power washing is vast. All types of things can be cleaned with a power washer. From houses to just about any thing that the surface will take the pressure of the water. Each surface is different each job is different and requires different soaps and cleaners.

Our special equipment help us land this job the small footprint S10 was one reason I was able to receive this job. There was limited access to the bleachers and with our small unit they let us use the track to drive on and work from. they figured a large truck with a big trailer and large holding tanks would not be able to drive on and manoeuvre on the track without damage. The weight of a large outfit was also a big consideration with the grounds keeper and sports director. That and the closest water supply was just under 400 feet away. We had 2 washers on board as always, for this job I had both fired up and running one off the 35 gallon reserve tank and one direct form the tap also filling the reserve tank. With special attachments and tools you can advance your cleaning and what you can clean. This job took several different attachments and even 3 different sized surface cleaners I had a handheld 9 inch surface cleaner but did not need it.

Power washing is more than squirting water from a machine putting it under pressure. So now to this weeks feature article, cleaning the stadium's bleachers in Republic MO getting "ready for some football". Here are some before and after photos from Cleaned by Pete.

Is this true in our field of power washing? I would have to say yes, we now have machines that put out more gallons to help us clean with less psi. We have new and better ideas and techniques of washing a home. We need not try to blast it clean with just water force from a pressure washer. We need not clean and wash as we had to, say 10 years ago. Better, safer, faster, softer, washing is now here and it also uses less water than before. With "friendly" cleaners that are better then anytime in the past we clean smarter. Yes yesterday's methods, techniques, power washers and cleaners will still work but most professional power washers have stepped into the modern age.

Working hard to get the right sign before getting them printed. I like that employe that keeps working hard and gets paid very little. That describes the humble yard sign. I need to investment in some new yard signs the sun and weather are taking a toll on the old signs. Also as times change so does or views and the signs are looking dated. While working a couple of weeks ago for one of our regular customers, that we concrete clean and house wash for, they deal with buy and selling homes, an idea hit me. Seeing their sign I started to come up with this idea for a new yard sign using their sign as a guideline for my new sign. This is their sign:

Yard-signs seem to be a great employee for me. I use them while on jobs that I'm doing, then I can leave them there to keep working. The older signs are starting to show some ware. Time to hire some new employees to stand proud and promote what I do. Working 24/7 in all types of weather what more can you ask for? These are some signs I've used over the years, some are better than others but most have brought me some good returns.

But now for the new crop of employees this is the interview period I would guess. Seeing what one will be the best fit and will work for us in the future. Which one has the most promise for the company.

Playing around and working on getting the yard signs ready for printing. As always I have do make a bunch of different formats and get the ideas down in the computer. Then get the idea of what makes the best look and what everyone likes. Then tweak them around a bit. So here are the profs for the signs so far.

Why did I base my sign on one of my customers signs? Well I have seen this sign in and around town and it always attracts attention and is very visible. Using the yellow color as the background, with standard black lettering I thought we'll see what it can do for Cleaned by Pete. Keeping it simple has been my advertising agenda for years.

In any case a sign is a reflection of your company and says alot about you. You have to temper looks and messages with what you're trying to get across to prospective customers. That is what I'm trying to do. I find it relaxing and like to do things myself I know my company and area and feel I can capture and relay the message. Not brain surgery here just letting others know we did a job and can do yours. If you don't have or use this silent employee you may want to give it some consideration.
