Cleaned by Pete wood restoration and other add ideas "PWE"

Not every idea comes out like we want. You may hit that home run on the first try but it is unlikely. It took them at least 40 tries to get the formula to WD40 right WD1 - WD39 must have not worked out to well other wise they would have stopped. Making adds and trying to catch the attention of others maybe best left to the pros. Being a small business with some what a limited advertising budget (slim to none at times) I do what I can. So on with another hat we all wear being small business men and women, the advertising executive. Some are not so good and some are better. Here are some of the things I came up with.

Just letting you know we are your full service power, pressure and soft washing experts in the greater Springfield and Southwest Missouri area.

The other night I was working on an add for the local girls Roller Derby team I support and volunteer for. Their logo is a "skull and cross bones". I was looking for something to fit in and help appeal to this group and its' followers. I started and it warped into this the PWE Power Wash Enforcers or the PWE Pressure wash Enforcers.

Cleaned by Pete: the PWE Pressure Wash Enforcers tribal skull and intense back ground.

Cleaned by Pete: the PWE Power Wash Enforcers a darker view of things.
Someone in the group wanted to see this combination of items together. So here it is the "PWE" Power Washing Enforcers

Not every thing comes out well or the way it was intended but if you do it yourself, you can only blame one person but the you don't waist a lot of cash on an add or layout that does not work well. I think if I can just keep plugging away I'll be like that hog that finds the acorn. Getting advice from others helping to improving on a good idea too. I have a problem remembering I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box. Some one else sees thing a bit different. This is why belonging to groups and communities of like minded business people is very important.

Wash'n Wednesday: the "small job dilemma"

Wash'n Wednesday: the "small job dilemma"

Wash'n Wednesday found us with lots of small jobs but jobs are jobs. Our customers and their word of mouth advertising is worth more to me than turning down jobs simply on size. I'll set aside a day now and then and lump them into one day. Today was that day. Customer service is our #1 goal telling someone that their job is to small or that there is not enough money in it for us to do is something I avoid doing. One happy customer will bring in more just by telling others we help them make a difference. If you can do several of these smaller jobs in a day or after a day's work, can you still make it worth while? I did get a neighbor to book some cleaning with us and handed out several cards while doing the days work. So in the long run it may payoff even more in the future. I know we as power washers need to draw a line somewhere and that is up to each person or company to do and decide. Yesterday after a house washing I was asked if I could clean or wash a 5th wheel camping trailer and if so how much I was there and had everything on board to do it since I do a small bus fleet from time to time. I shot them a price and soon as I finished the house washing I was over to wash the camper. Now would I have driven out just to clean a camper? It would have to be priced higher than what I did it for yesterday. Being close and having everything made it a nobrainer. Again how small if they are will to pay a fair price then I will do it.

I also find it just fun doing something different than what we normally do. I like residential house washing and love to be busy but a change now and then is good for the soul. Getting out there and seeing what you can do not having the normal time constraints is also nice. You can try out new things and techniques to see what works better. Never know when you'll find a new idea that will work for you in the future. Learning and growing your business and experiences.

From Billings, Ozark and Springfield MO it was "Wash'n Wednesday".  Just got in from a day, about the area. Odd jobs today were a painted, textured and distressed drive-way cleaning. I was contacted over the phone for the drive way cleaning it had been painted, textured and distressed about 7 to 8 years ago. Owner put the home on the market wanted the stains lifted and do what we could to make it look better. Then had to clean beams inset in the front of a home. The biggest problem was the height of what needed cleaning. Had the whole neighbor hood out including several mowing services watching me clean this one, owner was very happy to have them finally cleaned. Then some fertilizer rust stain removal seems the crew had gotten a little heavy and sprayed the home's siding and garage door. Our house washing mix lightened it but Cleaned by Pete went all the way and removed even stains that were left on the home and door. Home owners were amazed at the results which have been there since last year.

Here are some pictures and a short clip showing you what Cleaned by Pete can do. Working on the painted, textured and distressed drive-way using our adjustable height surface cleaner. Knowing the proper pressure and height to use is where the years of doing this come in. To much pressure will cut or remove the paint, distressed or textured areas or could chip off the top layer all together.

A painted, textured and distressed driveway to look "old world" heavy stains including oil and rust along with algae, moss and mildew, owner asked, "Do what you can I know its' in bad shape". Cleaned by Pete pressure & power washing did what we could. The painted and distressed areas were hard to clean with out removing it.
You can see this drive-way was quite a challenge but it turned out OK and helped the homes curb appeal once the oil stains, mold, algae, and mildew were removed. This is our adjustable height surface cleaners, I use it for decks and special jobs such as this painted, textured and distressed drive-way.

Finishing up the concert cleaning the paint and distress look made this hard to clean. Too much pressure will damage the surface, to little will not get the best cleaning. Our adjustable surface cleaner works great for this.

Fertilizer "rust" removal Billings MO.
Fertilizer stains to be remove, the front garage door and side of the home was covered with fertilizer rust stains. Seems the folks the did their fertilizing and plants got a little heavy on spraying the walls. House wash lightened it to what's in the first picture but Cleaned by Pete got that off also home owners were amazed at the results.

The height was a problem for other but Cleaned by Pete was able to get the job done right. The owner said it was 20 feet to the top of the bottom beams.
Cleaning beams on this home, not a hard job but the height had stopped everyone. Cleaned by Pete pressure & power washing did this using a step ladder and our regular equipment and attachments. It is 20 feet to the top of the bottom beams or that is what the homeowner told me.

Washing Warriors, Time To Get Your Kling-on: foam lances foam cannons

Washing Warrior, Time to get your Kling-on

You have to be a "Trekie" to get the pun in the title but with that aside, this entry is about how I have been using a foam cannon. Now even the term "foam cannon" is outdated. If you look for one you now have to search for foam lances for better results. What is a foam cannon or foam lance? my best explanation is: A foam cannon is an attachment to your gun, unlike anything you may have ever used before. The cannon delivers a thick, frothy foam that clings (Kling-on reference in the title, what still don't get it?", to the surface you are cleaning. Dirt and grease begin loosening their hold on surfaces immediately. A foam cannon with your pressure washer make it easy to cover large areas that need to be cleaned making washing easier. Often, you'll find less agitation, cleaners and it covers evenly, a real plus when needed to remove grime. Most foaming cannons are self contained and your cleaners are in an attached tank or can be drrawn through a hose. Self contained foam cannons come in may different styles and types, many manufacture but all will work in the same manner. Here are few photos of foam cannons gleamed off the internet.

The workings inside are "top secret" and can't be discussed......
The last statement is completely untrue but there is alot of science, physics and tech-knowledge in them. On a basic level what makes a foamer work is it is drawing air in, and then running the soap / cleaner through a metal puck or mesh which aireates it into a lather. That is the noise you will here in the videos is this process. Whipping up the soap which will be mixed with the cleaners and then applied to the surface with a low pressure water flow provided by the power washer. Foaming is gaining a new look because of the may benifits, which I have mentioned below. Videos are from Cleaned by Pete.

The metal puck is much like compressed steel wool or a tightly packed screen mesh. There also is a venturi inside them to aid in drawing in the soap / cleaners. I place in my cleaners car-washing soap for a great lather.

Cleaned by Pete  will use this method for laying down their cleaners using less water and using less cleaners. Helping once again to use less and help out mother nature. Just because you use more cleaners does not mean they are working better, Foaming can add up to 50% less cleaners in some cleaning applications. Cleaners are starting to work immediately on contact. Again using new technological ideas to help be more "Eco friendly". Yes "Eco friendly" come up once again. The longer we can get the cleaner to cling on or hang on the surface the better it will work, foam provides the grip the cleaners can do there job. Since it is hanging around longer you can now see why it we can use less cleaners they are just there longer doing their job.

Foam cannons have been around for a while but are now coming into more use in the power washing field. Foam expands the cleaning area and the small bubbles popping and expanding in the layer of foam help to work up dirt and grime. Do you remember those "Scrubbing Little Bubbles"
from commercials of years ago? Well they work and now we are employing the same idea here. The idea of applying to a larger coverage area mean using less water, gas and oil in the power washer again trying to do small parts for the environment.

I have had foam lances and or cannons they usually give us service for a year or two they are great and add in a new damnation to your cleaning arsenal. Simply by adding longer lances and extensions you can reach higher areas.

Below are some picture of Cleaned by Pete using the foam cannon.
Cleaned by Pete applying foamed cleaner to this deck via a foam cannon.

Cleaned by Pete using a foam cannon to apply foamed cleaners which cling and stay in place longer being more effective.

Cleaned by Pete's foaming methods start working instantly when applied and getting a even coverage means better results.

Cleaned by Pete has foamed this deck and is letting the scrubbing bubble action work.

Cleaned by Pete has foamed this home's siding and awnings and is now letting the scrubbing action of the foam work.
So from fleet washing, car washing, wooden fences to decks, houses to concrete and most surfaces from residential to industrial you may find a foamer of foam cannon in you future. Saving time, money, cleaners, and even water, being more "Eco friendly" all in one attachment what more can you ask for.
